An Ultra-Mini Dimmable LED Driver compatible with a 2-inch gang box, and an Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver with a body thickness of just 15mm. Behind the significantly reduced size of SCPOWER’s new Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series, what technological breakthroughs make these compact designs possible?
At the 2026 Hong Kong International Autumn Lighting Fair, among the wide range of lighting products and technologies on display, SCPOWER’s newly launched Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series attracted considerable attention.
For many lighting fixtures and applications, the installation position and available space for the LED driver are important design considerations. This is especially true when space inside a junction box is limited, as the driver's dimensions and housing design can directly affect the fixture's internal layout.
Within SCPOWER’s Ultra-Mini Series, models from 30W to 96W are compatible with 2-inch gang boxes. This allows drivers across different power ratings to fit into the corresponding installation spaces, reducing the need for additional mounting space and making more efficient use of available room.
A compact design is certainly impressive, but reducing size alone is not enough. Efficiency, power factor, dimming performance and product reliability are equally important—and must be supported by testing and validation.
Higher conversion efficiency means that more input energy is effectively converted into output power.
SCPOWER’s Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series achieves conversion efficiency of up to 94%. By adopting new materials and technologies, SCPOWER further optimizes power conversion performance, reduces energy losses and lowers operating temperature. This helps maintain high efficiency while supporting a more compact product design.
In large-scale lighting projects, multiple LED dimmable drivers operating simultaneously can create a substantial combined electrical load. A higher power factor helps reduce the apparent power required for the same amount of active power, lower line current and ease the load on the power distribution system.
With a power factor of greater than 0.98, SCPOWER’s Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Series helps improve the overall electrical performance of lighting systems and supports reliable project operation.
SCPOWER’s Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series is also designed to deliver smooth dimming performance and precise brightness control.
With a 20kHz PWM output frequency and a Gamma 2.2 dimming curve, the drivers deliver flicker-free dimming and smoother, more natural brightness transitions. The PWM dimming range covers 0–100%, with a dimming depth down to 0.1%, enabling fine brightness adjustment across a wide range of lighting applications.
For compact dimmable LED drivers, reducing product size is only one part of the design challenge. Delivering reliable performance in a limited space while meeting the electrical safety and environmental requirements of lighting applications is equally important.
To evaluate their adaptability to different environmental conditions, SCPOWER’s Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Series has undergone high- and low-temperature testing, as well as 85°C/85% RH (85/85) testing. The products have also undergone withstand voltage, insulation resistance and surge immunity testing. Together, these tests help verify environmental adaptability, electrical safety and resistance to power-line disturbances, providing additional confidence in reliable operation.
The drivers also incorporate short-circuit, overload and over-temperature protection, with automatic recovery after the relevant abnormal conditions are removed or the units have cooled down. These features further enhance operational safety and reliability.
From compact structural design to comprehensive testing and validation, SCPOWER’s approach to reducing driver size also takes electrical safety, environmental adaptability and dependable operation into account.
SCPOWER’s 30W-400W Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series offers multiple dimming solutions, including TRIAC & 0-10V 5-in-1, DALI-2 D4i and DMX512.
The TRIAC & 0-10V 5-in-1 solution integrates five dimming protocols into one driver, helping suppliers reduce SKU inventory pressure. The DALI-2 D4i solution is designed for digital lighting control systems and supports relevant standard functions. The DMX512 solution is suitable for professional lighting applications requiring precise brightness and color control.
Since lighting fixtures vary in their internal structures, installation positions and available space, SCPOWER offers multiple housing options for the Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Series. These include Ultra-Mini aluminum housings, Ultra-Slim linear housings, junction box housings and linear junction box housings, allowing the drivers to better accommodate different fixture designs.
The Hong Kong Autumn Lighting Fair may have come to an end, but conversations about SCPOWER’s Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Series are still ongoing.
